Week #41

I can't believe how crazy small of a world it is! That is way cool that Trevor is teaching that sister missionaries mom! It's amazing that me and all of my friends are meeting so many different people and teaching the gospel in so many areas of the world!

Now for our investigators:

Terry is still doing well. We are going to push his date back to the 21st. He just needs a little bit more time to be ready for baptism. We really want him to solidify his testimony of the gospel. This last week at church was great though! We had 3 investigators there so we weren't able to be with all of them at once. We just kinda let Terry go through church without us taking him every where. He was talking with all of the ward members and really having a great time! He is doing great!

We dropped Rick... He wasn't willing to keep any commitments and wasn't remembering the things we were teaching him.

Elden is doing great! We had a lesson with him at the church this last Saturday to try and get him comfortable with the church building and ease some of the fears he has about coming. It was a fantastic lesson! We ordered a large print triple combination and he told us to write our testimonies in it so that he can remember the Elders that found him and brought him back to the gospel. After our lesson with Elden, he texted us and said that he felt the spirit so strong and would definitely be at church! Then Sunday came and he didn't end up making it out to church for some reason. Also, earlier in the week we taught Elden the Word of Wisdom, which we were worried for because he is a heavy smoker. When we went over there, he was telling us how the doctor told him that he needs to quite smoking in order to get over the health challenges he's facing right now. Not only did we recognize that this was a miracle but Elden said he couldn't believe that we taught that lesson right when he needed it most!

Like I said before, we had 3 investigators at church. The first was Terry and the other two were Parker and Bill. Parker is the 12 year old son of a less active member. One of the ward members met Parker's mom when he was driving the city bus. We went over and visited with her and she isn't really interested in coming back right now but she said that she would like us to teach her son. We started teaching him and he has loved meeting with us. He was really excited to come to church and actually already knew a lot of the ward members! We are going to try and set a baptismal date with him tonight!

Bill, our other investigator that came to church, is married to a returning less active member. Bill has on and off investigated the church for the last year. He really struggles with the word of wisdom and the idea of not being able to drink coffee. In just the last couple of months he's come to a better understanding of the gospel and is feeling better about the church. We're trying to set a baptismal date with him in the coming weeks.

We got a text from Misty yesterday and have an appointment scheduled with her this week. Hopefully it won't fall through. I'll let you know next week how it goes.

We found another great investigator this week named Bob. Bob is a middle aged man that knows way too much about the bible! He knows so many facts which led to what he calls his de-conversion. He no longer has a faith in God because he feels like he was abandoned. He asked us in the lesson if we thought the Book of Mormon was what he was missing and the member that was with us in the teaching appointment said to him, "I can honestly tell you that the Book of Mormon is what you're missing." He continued to bear powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon and the blessing it has been in his life. I can't wait to see what Bob thinks of the Book of Mormon after reading it!

Elder Brewer and I are having a great time here in the Ashland Area and are loving every minute of it! I love you guys so much and can't wait to talk to you on Mother's day! HOLY CRAP that's only one week away!!!! See you guys soon!

Love, Jack
